The Republic of Moldova is fully committed to continue making effort for the accession negotiations with the EU to be opened by the end of this year, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, stated during his visit to Luxemburg, IPN reports, with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Together with the Government’s secretary general Artur Mija, Nicu Popescu met with the Prime Minister of Luxemburg Xavier Bettel. The officials discussed Moldova’s path of European integration and the significant progress made in implementing the nine recommendations put forward by the European Commission.

The Moldovan official thanked Xavier Bettel for his participation in the Second European Political Community Summit that was hosted by Moldova. He underlined the importance of the European leaders’ commitment to support Moldova on its path of European integration.

The officials also spoke about the next edition of the Moldova Support Platform that is to take place in Chisinau in October.

“We also discussed the positive evolution of the bilateral dialogue and the intensification of the commercial and investment relations. In this regard, I thanked the Premier of Luxemburg for the continuous assistance in strengthening democracy, in supporting the sustainable development and economic growth of our country,” stated Nicu Popescu.
