The national Under-21 football team of Moldova lost 1-4 away to the Czech Republic in the 2017 UEFA European Championship qualifying rounds. The Czech team dominated the match and had a multitude of occasions for scoring in Radu Matu’s goal, IPN reports.

The score was opened in the overtime of the first half through Jankto. After the pause, the same Jankto scored again, while Julis and Cerny scored for 4-0. Sheriff striker Eugeniu Rebenja scored the goal of honor in 90th+3 minute. “I think we decided the game after the second goal. Even if we weren’t the favorites, I’m glad that we won in the group,” the coach of the Czech Under-21 team Vitezslav Lavicka told a news conference.

As a result of this defeat, Moldova slipped to the fifth place in the rankings of Group 1. The team trained by Danut Oprea is to play the last game of the current qualification competition away, against Malta, on October 11. If Moldova wins, it will rank fourth in the group.
