The Under-19 football team of Moldova suffered a humiliating defeat in the first match of the 2018 UEFA European Championship qualifying rounds, IPN reports.
Moldova was demolished by Italy 0-4. Zaniola scored twice, while Melegoni and Pinamonti scored by one goal.
On October 7, Moldova meets the host of the mini-tournament Sweden, while on October 10 plays against Estonia, which lost to Sweden 0-4 in the first match.
For this tournament, Moldova manager Oleg Fistican summoned the following players: Sebastian Agachi, Victor Straistari – goalkeepers; Denis Furtuna, Igor Chiperi, Vadim Dijinari, Vladislav Boico, Yevgeny Berco, Gheorghe Suciu – fullbacks; Radu Scoarta, Victor Bogaciuc, Ion Postica, Vsevolod Nihaev, Nichita Andronachi, Dumitru Demian – halfbacks; Nikita Yurashko, Andrei Calac, Alexandru Osipov, Ion Mamaliga, Artiom Carastoian – strikers.
