Moldova for the first time will take part in a world exhibition with an own pavilion. In two previous exhibits, it participated within common pavilions with other states. When presenting the conception of the pavilion on Friday, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar said that this is a real challenge for a country like Moldova, both as regards creativity and the availability of resources.

A number of 130 countries announced their intention to take part in the event. It is expected that the exhibit will be visited by over 20 million people, IPN reports.

Moldova’s pavilion will be a glass cube that will be illuminated by mirrors. There will be exhibited Moldovan ecologically-pure agrifood products. A film about the well-known folk dances group “Joc”, which has promoted Moldova’s image abroad for almost seven decades, will be shown within the event.

“The conception of our pavilion is a symbiosis between economy, agriculture and culture. I hope the visitors will perceive it correctly,” said Valeriu Lazar.

Project manage Radu Balan said a contest to select the company that will built the pavilion will be announced soon. There is enough time for building the pavilion by next May. When the exhibit is over, the pavilion will be dismantled and brought to the country for being used in different cultural events.

A sum of 60 million lei was earmarked for preparing Moldova’s participation in 2015 World Expo Milan.
