Moldova to supply 100 tonnes of apples to India

The Republic of Moldova this month will deliver 100 tonnes of apples to India on a trial basis, before applying for an export authorization. The possibility of facilitating the export of Moldovan agricultural products to India, especially of apples and dried fruit, and the inclusion of Moldova in the Plant Quarantine Order were discussed by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița and the Ambassador of India to the Republic of Moldova, with residence in Bucharest, Rahul Shrivastava. The officials also conferred on the strengthening of the Moldovan-Indian economic cooperation and of the bilateral diplomatic relations, IPN reports.

Natalia Gavrilița proposed extending the investment relations between the two states, mentioning the advantages offered by Moldova to investors, such as the free economic zones, simplified customs procedures, duty-free exports to the EU. For his part, Rahul Shrivastava informed that a number of Indian entrepreneurs intend to make investments in a number of regions of Moldova, it is said in a press release issued by the Government.

The interlocutors exchanged opinions on the bilateral cooperation in the social and education sectors, noting that over 800 students from India study in the Republic of Moldova and the popularity of “Nicolae Testemițanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy among Indian students continues growing. The officials welcomed the visit to New Delhi planned by the Moldovan foreign affairs minister and approved of the positive dynamics of the diplomatic relations between the two states, which were established 30 years ago.
