Moldova to play Ukraine this evening

The public TV channel “Moldova 1” will broadcast live the match between the national football squads of Moldova and Ukraine that will be played in Odessa in the evening of March 26, starting at 9pm, IPN reports.

According to the Moldovan Football Federation, the national team of Moldova trained on the Odessa stadium “Chernomorets” in the evening of March 25. The stadium was reconstructed in November 2011 and now has a capacity of over 30,000 seats.

The training lasted for about an hour and involved all the 23 players. Alexandru Gitskan, who was suspended after he was shown a red card in the match with Montenegro, was replaced by halfback Alexandru Antoniuc, of Zimbru Chisinau.

The match between Ukraine and Moldova, which forms part of Group H of the 2014 World Championship qualifiers, will be controlled by a group of Dutch referees.

The Moldova-Ukraine match played in Chisinau ended in a 0-0 draw. However, Ukraine beat Poland 3-1, when Moldova lost the game against Montenegro at home. Ukraine climbed to the third spot in the group, while Moldova ranks fifth with four points.

About 400 supporters of Moldova are expected to watch the match in Odessa.
