the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova will be instituted in Georgia, and the General Consulate of the Republic of Moldova– in Bolgna (Italy). The Government adopted on Wednesday, June 14 a decision on this issue. According to the representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, opening a diplomatic mission in Georgia could offer to the Republic of Moldova significant advantages and more efficient possibilities of mutual cooperation not only with this country, but also with other Caucasian countries. At present Georgia has a foreign policy directed towards integration in the European and Euro-Atlantic structures. Taking these facts into consideration, Moldovan officials state that the development of geopolitical, economical and cultural relationships of Moldova with this country will remain a priority of the foreign policy in this region. At the same time, according to the authors of the decision, taking into consideration the importance of the collaboration for Moldova within GUAM, especially from the viewpoint of transporting energetic resource from the area of Caspian Sea, Georgia is the only country from this area where Moldova does not have a diplomatic representative. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Andrei Stratan expressed his hope that soon Georgia, on its turn, will open a diplomatic mission in Moldova. On the other hand, if speaking about the opening of the Consulate of the republic of Moldova to Italy, the minister mentioned that in this way, Moldovan citizens staying in this country will benefit of the services offered by the diplomatic mission and the collaboration relationships with Italy will be extended. Another embassy of the Republic of Moldova was inaugurated at the beginning of this week in the Kingdom of Sweden in Stockholm. At present, Moldova has 28 diplomatic missions abroad.
