Moldova to learn from Turkey’s experience in restoring and keeping heritage

The Republic of Moldova and Turkey will step up the exchange of experience, primarily in the fields of legislation and restoration and protection of heritage given that Turkey has a rich experience in these areas. The Turkish side expressed its readiness to offer a particular number of scholarships for Moldovan students to study the restoration of cultural heritage at universities in Turkey. The subjects were discussed during a working visit paid by Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan to Ankara, IPN reports.

Sergiu Prodan had a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Mehmet Nuri Ersoy. The officials underlined the importance of restoring the cultural heritage, in particular the erecting of the new building of the National Philharmonic in Chisinau and the construction of the building of the national Gagauz theater in Ceadâr-Lunga.

Mehmet Nuri Ersoy expressed his readiness to fully support joint cultural projects and to launch new cultural activities that would extend the bilateral relations and would contribute to developing culture and tourism in Moldova.

Sergiu Prodan also met with the Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey Ahmet Misbah Demircan with whom he discussed the prospects of cooperation in cinematography. The officials conferred on the possibility of jointly making a documentary about the Republic of Moldova and agreed to intensify contacts at the level of counterpart institutions in the field of cinematography.

Minister Prodan’s visit anticipated the Culture Days of Moldova in Turkey, which are organized by the Ministry of Culture of Moldova together with the Embassy of Moldova in Ankara and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey

The event that is inaugurated on November 23 includes performances by the National Academic Ensemble of Folk Dance “Joc”, “Lăutarii” Orchestra and the Dance Ensemble “Kadînja”. There will be mounted exhibitions of paintings and Moldovan traditional carpets.
