Moldova to host IMF-World Bank Constituency Meeting

The Republic of Moldova will host the International Monetary Fund-World Bank Constituency Meeting on July 10-12. The meeting will be held in Chisinau, according to the principle of rotation, IPN reports, referring to a press release of the National Bank.

The event, organized by the National Bank of Moldova and the Ministry of Finance, will bring together senior representatives of central banks and ministries of finance of the member countries of the Constituency, as well as senior representatives of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The central theme of the meeting will be “Ensuring strong growth in a volatile and uncertain environment”. The discussions will focus on such topics as mobilizing private capital and opportunities for innovation and growth driven by artificial intelligence.

The event aims to bring to the fore global economic developments, regional challenges, as well as ways of learning from the experiences and policies of the IMF and the World Bank.

According to the NBM, for the Republic of Moldova the event is of major importance as it offers the opportunity to present the country’s economic developments and opportunities, along with its tourism potential. The forum is also an example of international cooperation, which contributes to the stability and progress of the financial system.

The Republic of Moldova is a party to the Constituency, along with Belgium, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Andorra, Armenia, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Croatia, Georgia, Israel, Luxembourg, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Romania, and Ukraine. This group of countries is represented in the decision-making forums of the IMF and the World Bank (Boards of Executive Directors of the IMF and the World Bank) by one executive director each, elected for a period of 4 years.
