Moldova to host “Family” festival for first time

The “Family” festival will take place in Moldova for the first time between May 15 and 17, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child, the festival will be held simultaneously in three towns: Chisinau, Cahul and Balti. In Chisinau, the festival will take place in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great” near the central fountain, in Balti - at the Palace of Culture, while in Cahul – in the Round Dances Square. The cultural-artistic program will also include the awarding of certificates of honor and presents to the couples that will register their marriages on May 15, to children born on this day and to the families that celebrate the golden anniversary this year. On May 17, the three towns will host such activities as: children’s hour, grandparents’ hour, the family dinner, musical duets and contests. The movie “A Man and a Woman” (1966) produced by Claude Lelouch will be screened in the three towns as part of the Family Cinema event. The picture is one of the most famous love stories that impressed the whole world and was like a breath of fresh air in the epoch. It was awarded two Oscars, two Golden Globes and a Palme D’Or. The festival is organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and Echinox Agency.
