The Republic of Moldova will receive a €40 million grant from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany. The money is intended for ensuring the population’s energy security, IPN reports, quoting the Parliament’s press service.
In today’s meeting, the members of the commission for foreign policy and European integration approved the initiation of negotiations and signing of an agreement on financial cooperation compiled by exchange of notes between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany (“Promotion of energy security of vulnerable groups of the Republic of Moldova”).
The non-reimbursable budget support will be provided through KfW Development Bank of Germany, while the money will be used to offset the sudden increase in energy costs for the population with low incomes.
The grant will be transferred to the accounts of the Ministry of Finance until Decembers 15, 2022.
