Five days remained until the European Judo Championships. At the competition hosted by Warsaw, Moldova will be represented by eight athletes. Denis Vieru, Nicon Zaboroshchuk and Dorin Gotonoaga are the leaders of the team, IPN reports.
“We are impatiently waiting for the European championships in Poland to start. We are confident in our own forces and hope to win medals,” European youth champion Denis Vieru has told IPN.
The Government of Moldova will award 90,000 lei for a gold medal, 66,000 lei for a silver medal and 45,000 lei for a bronze medal. The European Judo Championships scheduled for April 20-22 are expected to involve about 650 judo players from 46 countries.
