The Republic of Moldova on Tuesday signed with the European Union the Agreement providing for Moldova’s participation in the Employment and Social Innovation (EaSI) component of the European Social Fund (ESF+). The signed agreement will enable Moldova to actively participate in various European initiatives and projects aimed at supporting reforms in the field of labor and social protection. The authorities specify that it is for the first time in history that Moldova will have access to such funds and will be able to benefit from more financial resources for the implementation of reforms, IPN reports.

The agreement was signed during the eighth meeting of the EU-Republic of Moldova Association Council, which took place today in Brussels.

According to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, this agreement represents an important step in strengthening the relations between Moldova and the European Union, with the main purpose of improving employment opportunities and promoting social innovation in Moldova. Through participation in the EaSI program, the Republic of Moldova will benefit from financial and technical support for the implementation of employment, social inclusion and poverty reduction policies.

“It is an extremely important step for the Republic of Moldova’s European path and for continuing the initiated reforms, especially those in the field of employment and labor inspection. We continue to work to bring Europe at home. We want to bring a positive change in the lives of our citizens, offering them access to decent jobs and high-quality social services,” said Minister Alexei Buzu said.

The European Social Fund aims to support high levels of employment, fair social protection and a skilled and resilient workforce ready for the labor market of the future, as well as inclusive and cohesive societies that aim to eradicate poverty and deliver on the principles set out in the European Pillar of Social Rights.

“The signed agreement will also facilitate the exchange of best practices and experiences with Member States of the European Union, thus contributing to the development of effective and sustainable policies. The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection reaffirms its commitment to promote social inclusion, improve working conditions and create equal opportunities for all the citizens,” reads a press release of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection
