The ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization summed up the results of the half-yearly mandate of the organization’s Chairmanship-in-Office held by Georgia and welcomed the taking over of the Chairmanship by the Republic of Moldova, for the period between January 1 and June 30, 2022, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. The heads of the diplomatic services of the BSCE member states met at a videoconference.
“While holding the Chairmanship-in-Office, our country will promote cooperation oriented to tangible results for the region, an authentic, constructive dialogue and better connectivity between the states,” said Deputy Purine Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
He noted that special attention will be devoted to sector cooperation, enhancement of the productivity of working groups, cooperation in the field of digital transformation between the member states. Given the importance of the partnership with the EU, while holding the Chairmanship-in-Office, the Republic of Moldova will encourage the development of interaction between BSEC and the EU.
The Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC) is a regional international organization focusing on multilateral initiatives aimed at fostering cooperation and stability among its 13 member states in the Black Sea Region. It includes the following member states: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Romania, North Macedonia, the Russian Federation, Serbia, Turkey, and Ukraine.
