This year, too, Moldova will switch to winter time by setting back clocks by one hour on the night of October 31. This way, 3am will become 2am, IPN reports.

The switch was recommended by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and will take place simultaneously with the EU member states.

Recently, a proposal from the Shor Party saying Moldova should no longer switch to winter time failed to receive the Government’s endorsement.

“There have been discussions at the level of the European Union to stop switching to winter time. This discussion is ongoing and no final decision has been made yet. This year, too, the European Union will follow the practice used in previous years, i.e. will switch to winter time. I believe we, too, should adhere to the same practice,” stated Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița.

Back in March 2019, the European Parliament voted to scrap seasonal time changes and the measure was supposed to be implemented in 2021. However, the European Council has failed to produce a final decision yet.
