Moldova, Romania sign agreement on medical intervention SMURD

Moldova and Romania have signed an agreement on medical intervention SMURD on Moldova’s territory. The first SMURD center will be opened in Balti municipality, IPN reports. Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta, who is in Chisinau on a working visit, said that all the documents for the crossborder emergency intervention operations to take place were signed. The helicopter units from Iasi and Galati can already intervene in emergencies and situations posing dangers to humans in the areas over the Prut River.

The Romanian official said that besides the SMURD services, the Moldovan students this year will also benefit from one-year studies at a university in Romania. “From this year, the ERASMUS program within which a lot of Romanian students studied at European universities during a year will be extended to cover the Moldovan students in Romania,” stated Victor Ponta.

He also said the €20 million provided to Moldova for developing preschool infrastructure was already transferred to the Ministry of Development of Romania and, within ten days of the reception of the list of investments, will be transferred to the Government of Moldova.

As to the construction of the Iasi-Ungheni gas pipeline, the Romanian Premier said the works to lay pipes through the Prut are close to an end. Romania contributed a sum of €1.2 million lei to the works performed on Moldova’s side. There were agreed the projects to build bridges over the Prut, which will be constructed with money from Romania’s budget.

“I can announce a new initiative that we launched today. The Romanian state will guarantee 80% of the investments of the Romanian firms in Moldova, a total sum of up to 1 billion lei for this year. I hope that in the period the Romanian firms will invest more in Moldova and will contribute to its economic development,” said the Romanian Premier.

He reiterated that Romania will unconditionally support Moldova in the European integration process and the Moldovan Government’s steps in this respect.
