Moldova registered progresses in political area lately, but there still are some debts to this matter towards the Council of Europe (CoE), according to joint conclusion of the leadership of the parliament of Chisinau and the co-reporters of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). One of the co-reporters, Josette Durrieu, reported on Wednesday evening, after meeting with parliament’s chairman Marian Lupu, that from political point of view, there is stability in Moldova and this is a very good thing, welcomed by the international community, including by CoE. „Now we all are very demanding, we have to further and faster,” she said. Durrieu also noted that it was set the deadline that till June, certain reform should to be implemented, certain laws adopted, in order to get to an end Moldova’s commitments. „One of the laws among the other that must be adopted”, she mentioned, „is the Law on audio-visual, which is a very important problem, as the information is the core of the democracy. We are attentive on how it will be drafted and the journalists have to be attentive as well. This has to satisfy the requirement of all political sensitiveness for a good functioning.” Durrieu announced that she has come back from Transnistria and, where, in her opinion, no development elements are still seen in the process of solving the conflict. According to CoE representative, its solving needs involvement of many actors, who have to take care of this issue more deeply. „We hope that current situation will develop in a better way and will not last for ever,” Josette Durrieu mentioned. In the opinion of Marian Lupu, situation in RM in general is positive, there were noted visible developments for a certain number of drafts that are set in a calendar plan, which was approved officially by the parliament. In the same time, he said that they have discussed certain aspects more problematic in case when the drafted projects get over the set term. Regardless of particular situations, we reiterated again that all the actions would be drafted till the end of July, he mentioned. Lupu underlined that these commitments were not made in order to show something to CoE, this is of second importance, as the basic importance regards the awareness level of the necessity to implement these changes within the country. Vice-chairman of the parliament Iurie Rosca, after meeting with Egidijus Vareikis said that both co-reporters could see on the spot the situation in the region. „Of course there is still on the agenda the debts of Moldova in the field of the activity of democratic institutions and to improve the legislation regarding the strengthening of the law-based state,” he noted. „There were noted the visible developments that Moldova has registered and our legislative last year, but we also expressed our concern regarding certain engagements that we did not comply with, for example the reform in the field of audio-visual, reform of General Prosecution, reform of local public administration.” Referring to opportunity to suspend the monitoring of Moldova by PACE, Rosca said that all the debts could be liquidated till the end of the session, but it did not mean that automatically in autumn it would be managed to stop the monitoring. „We try to get this, Ukraine and Georgia are in the same situation, but in this friendly competition there always are questions, as there is talked about many legislative acts that have to be adjusted to community’s acquis and not only the legislative framework, and practices as well. Sometimes the legislation is perfect, and practices are vicious, the vice-chairman concluded. Josette Durrieu and Egidijus Vareikis visited Moldova on 12-16 Match. There was made a report after the visit, and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will adopt a resolution on the situation in Moldova.
