Moldova ranks second at Athletics Championship of Small States

The Republic of Moldova finished second at the second Athletics Championship of Small States that was held in Liechtenstein. Cyprus topped the team rankings. The competition involved 17 countries, IPN reports.

Moldova was represented by 16 athletes. Dimitriana Surdu had the best performance. She became champion in weight throw and discus throw.

Silver medals were won by: Alexandr Crushelnitskii (110 m hurdles), Ivan Emilianov (weight throw), Ion Siuris (800 m race), Maxim Raileanu (3 000 m), Alexei Morozov, Andrei Daranuta, Alexandru Zatic and Andrei Shturmilov (all Swedish relaye), Olesea Smovjenco (800 m) and Lilia Fisikovici (3 000 m).

Bronze was won by: Alexandru Zatic (200 m), Stefan Mura (discus throw) and Uliana Busila (long jump).
