The Board of Directors of Moldova Railways (CFM) has submitted a request to the Public Property Agency (APP) regarding the valorization of several assets, including the Railway Workers’ Palace. The information was confirmed to IPN by the head of the Public Property Agency, Roman Cojuhari.
"Moldova Railways cannot sell the Railway Workers’ Palace, as it belongs to the state of the Republic of Moldova. Public consultations and a Government decision are required for this matter", stated Roman Cojuhari.
The APP chief clarified that no decision has been made yet on whether the Government will be asked to approve the sale of the Railway Workers’ Palace.
Infrastructure Minister Vladimir Bolea confirmed in a televised interview that the proposal to sell the Railway Workers’ Palace - to cover CFM’s outstanding salary payments - was made exclusively by the Moldova Railways Board of Directors. The funds from this sale could serve as a lifeline for CFM, which is struggling financially.
Currently, the Railway Workers’ Palace generates annual losses of approximately 5 million lei for the company.
