Moldova intends to open an embassy in Japan’s capital Tokyo in the near future. The issue was discussed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Iulian Groza in a meeting with Ambassador Norio Maruyama, who is the special representative for relations with the GUAM countries and adviser of the European Affairs Bureau of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan.

Reciprocal high-level visits will be paid next year, IPN reports, quoting a communiqué from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.

Exactly one year ago, current Premier Iurie Leanca, who was then Foreign Minister, announced that Moldova in 2013 will open three new embassies – in the Netherlands (The Hague), Canada and Qatar. During the year, Ala Beleavschi was named as Moldova’s Ambassador to Canada, Emilian Brenici as Ambassador to the Netherlands, while Valeriu Tihonov as Ambassador to Qatar.

Moldova has 38 embassies and consular offices.
