Moldova participates in 26th Summer Universiade

Moldova is participating alongside 151 other nations in the 26th Summer Universiade hosted by the Chinese city of Shenzhen. On Saturday, August 13, the Moldovan national team entered the competition, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Moldovan Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Moldovan athletes will compete in 7 events: athletics, judo, taekwondo, fencing, yachting, weightlifting and cycling. The Moldovan delegation is headed by Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Octavian Bodisteanu. “Traditionally, China astounds its guests with its hospitality and generosity. I hope our athletes will also stun the hosts by showing them what they can in competition”, stated Octavian Bodisteanu.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports spent nearly one million lei to send the team to the Universiade.
The most numerous teams are from Russia, with 574 athletes plus 200 coaching staff and officials, and China, with 492 athletes.
The 26th Summer Universiade in Shenzhen will last until August 23.
