The Parliamentary faction “Moldova Noastra” Alliance (MNA) insists on officially applying for EU membership. MNA has drawn up a Parliament draft decision that incorporates an Appeal to gain external support concerning Moldova’s application. AMN also urges the Government to prepare the request and apply for EU membership within three months, Info-Prim Neo reports. Leader of MNA Serafim Urecheanu told a press conference that the political initiative is based on the wish to put an end to the speculations concerning the pro-European direction of Moldova, and to the fact that Moldova is not included by EU in the list of potential candidates. Delaying an official application violates the decisions taken unanimously by the present Parliament. MNA urges the MPs to sign the legislative initiative by the end of this week in order to be able to officially register it by the end of the next week. Referring to the concerns of MNA at the beginning of the political year, the cited sources said these are born from the failures and serious mistakes admitted by the communist government, the majority coalition in Parliament and President Vladimir Voronin. These errors set the society’s development back, leads to abuses, dissipation of the businessmen working behind the red-orange coalition, misappropriation of goods, violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms, Urecheanu considers. Urecheanu also said that under the control of the Communist and Christian-Democrat coalition, law-enforcement bodies and justice use repressive measures against political opposition, businessmen, civil society, and simple citizens that got in the way of mob interests of the government. According to the same source, on February 25, the faction plans to organise a meeting with its supporters in order to discuss the concerning situation of several categories of persons, including the state paid employees who are deprived of their right to receive increased wages. At the same time, Urecheanu says that MNA will hear in February several key figures from the Government. Head of the Regional Development Agency Igor Seminovcher was invited to explain the contribution of the Government in ensuring the population with dwellings and other issues related to the regional development. Afterwards a discussion will take place with the new broadcasting authorities, including “Teleradio-Moldova” Company. MNA will tackle the issue of inaccurate information, obedience to the government and discrimination of the opposition, as well as the offences committed in the case of “Antena C” and “Euro TV”. Also MNA will discuss the fact that the government coalition ignored the key-recommendations of the Council of Europe concerning the adjustment of the legislation to European standards. In the same period, the MNA faction will estimate the results of the projects “under high patronage”, especially the aspects related to the spending of money, including public, donated by the population or extorted through “state racket” from the companies forced to finance the communist propaganda. As a first step, the faction will analyse the use of subvention funds for agriculture. The MNA faction submitted a request to the Constitutional Court to verify several articles included in the Broadcasting Code, the next being the Law 355 on the wages in the state sector and the Law that stipulates the new method of calculating the estate tax.
