Moldova Needs USD 8,5 mln for Preventing Bird Flu

Negotiations between the Government and World Bank (WB) representatives will be held on 3-4 May, in Chisinau, concerning providing financial assistance to Moldova of USD 8 million, for avian flu preventing and prophylaxis actions. At negotiations will take part the minister of Health and Social Protection (MSPS), Ion Ababii, and the minister of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA), Anatolie Gorodenco. According to minister Ababii, half of the provided assistance will be as grant, and the other – as loan. The credit will be reimbursed along 40 years, with a 10-years grace period, with an interest rate of 0.75% and an engagement commission of 0.5%. At the same time, Japanese government will provide with the same aim other 500,000 dollars. According to the agreement with WB, USD 3,5 million will be directed to MAIA, and 3,7 million - to MSPS. The means will be used especially for equipping the diagnosis laboratory, for creating favorable conditions in reanimation and anesthesiology rooms of the medical institutions of infectious diseases, purchasing medication etc.
