Moldova national football team to meet Cameroon

The national football team of Moldova on June 7 will play the first match on the African continent. It will meet the national squad of Cameroon, which after the game goes to play in the World Championship, IPN reports.

The team trained by Ion Caras left for Cameroon this morning, June 4. It includes two internationals: goalkeeper Nicolae Calancea, of Ceahlaul, and Tom striker Eugen Sidorenco.

“We will play against a National Division team. Regretfully, not all the footballers from the internal championship can play in the match against Cameroon. Luvannor, Dedov, Jardan, Ginsari, Calincov and Alexeev are unavailable. It will be a difficult match, especially because we will play before a full stadium and at high temperatures,” Moldova manager Ion Caras told a news conference.

The players who travelled to Cameroon are: Namashko, Calancea – goalkeepers; Cascaval, Burghiu, Erhan, Posmac, Clonin, Leu, M.Antoniuc – fullbacks; Al. Antoniuc, Vremea, Cheptine, Ivanov, Bugneac, Patras, Gheorghiev – halfbacks; Sidorenco, Turcan - strikers.

Moldova so far has scored three victories: 3-0 against Andorra, 4-0 against Saudi Arabia, and 1-1 against Canada. On June 1, Cameroon, which is the team of the legendary Samuel Eto`o, tied with Germany 2-2 away. The encounter between Cameroon and Moldova is played in Yaounde on June 7.
