Moldova lost the doubles to Portugal 3-0 in the Davis Cup Championship that is taking place in Chisinau on September 13-15. After Moldovan tennis player Radu Albot won the first match against Gastao Elias, while Maxim Dubarenco was beaten by Portugal’s Joao Sousa, the general team score is 1-2 for Portugal, IPN reports.

The match lasted for slightly over two hours. Moldova was represented by Roman Borvanov and Andrei Ciumac, while Portugal by Joao Sousa and Gastao Elias. The two Portuguese athletes will also play in the last two singles matches that are decisive within the championship. The Moldovan tennis players managed to make their opponents tired, offering thus more chances to their team mates in the decisive matches.

The team championship is held at the Athletics Complex in Chisinau on September 13-15. On September 15, there will be played the last two singles matches. They will be broadcast live on the public TV channel Moldova 1 and online.
