The national football team of Moldova was distributed to Group G of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification process, alongside Denmark, Austria, Scotland, Israel and the Faeroe Islands, IPN reports.
The draw Pots were based on the FIFA rankings of November 26. As Moldova ranked 177th, they could not avoid the last Pot. During the last seven years, Moldova beat only two foreign teams in official matches, of San Marino and Andorra.
The qualifying round will take place between March 24 and November 16, 2021. The final tournament will be played for the first time in autumn and winter so as to avoid the very high temperatures typical of Qatar, which will host the 2022 World Cup during November 21 - December 18.
