Moldova is one of the priorities in what concerns the enlargement of the European Union, Katalin Szili, Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary said on Friday, March 30.
The Hungarian official told a joint news conference with Marian Lupu, that the EU enlargement is very important for Hungary, and among the priorities in this respect are the countries of the Western Balkans and Ukraine.
The cited source said that Hungary supports the sovereignty, territorial wholeness and European aspirations of Moldova. At the same time, the Hungarian official said that the European integration process is difficult and that is why Moldova should find more partners to support it.
Speaker Marian Lupu said that lately the Moldovan-Hungarian relations had an upward trend, being based on mutual respect of both state’s sovereignty and territorial wholeness, mutual respect of national interests and attachment to the European values and standards.
Within the frameworks of a meeting with the Hungarian official, President Voronin expressed the interest of Moldova in taking over Hungary’s European integration experience, especially in adjusting the legislation of Moldova to the European acquis.
The head of state emphasised the importance of opening the Joint Visa Issuance Centre at the Embassy of Hungary in Chisinau. Also, Vladimir Voronin welcomed the participation of the Hungarian representatives in the European Union Border Assistance Mission at the Moldovan-Ukrainian border (EUBAM) headed by General Ferenc Banfi.
