Moldova intends to strengthen economic ties with Hungary

The first meeting of the inter-governmental Moldo-Hungarian Commission for commercial-economic cooperation may take place in Chisinau next September. The proposal was put up on June 18 by the deputy Economy and Trade minister, Tudor Copaci, at the meeting with the Hungarian ambassador, Gyorgy Varga, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from the Ministry’s press unit. In Tudor Copaci’s opinion, the works of the intergovernmental commission will create new prerequisites for the development of the partnership relationships among Governmental institutions, and private companies from the two countries. According to the press release, the Moldo-Hungarian relationships have lately shown a positive and continuous upward trend, as in 2007 the commercial exchange rising by 8% compared with 2006. Moldova proposes to sign an accord, at the first sitting, on economic the cooperation, meant to strengthen the normative-legal frame between the two countries. In January-April 2008, Moldova imported from Hungary goods worth $20.6 million. Hungary is not among the first ten states towards which Moldova operates exports.
