Moldova hopes to get autonomous preferential system in 2007

The major objective in the RM-EU cooperation is to obtain an autonomous preferential system similar to that provided to Balkan countries, the MAEIE deputy minister, Eugenia Chistruga, announced about this on Friday, July 6. According to the official’s statement, during the international conference “Economic cooperation between RM and Romania; Perspectives and challenges”, it is important for RM to get this system as soon as possible in order to diminish, first of all, the negative impact of the restrictions imposed by the Russian Federation upon Moldovan goods import. The deputy minister also noted that it has to be taken into account that, once Bulgaria and Romanian join EU, the Free Exchange Agreements of Moldova with these states shall be terminated. During the visit scheduled for September 2006, the European experts will have the possibility to assess the implementation level of EU recommendations, pursuant to which it shall be prepared the proposals addressed to EU Council regarding the decision on providing autonomous preferential system for RM. Chistruga hopes that this decision will be taken along 2007. At the same event, Filip Teodorescu, Romanian Ambassador to Chisinau, stated that Romania, on the economic level, will support Moldova in order to obtain easier the access to the EU internal market. Vladimir Antosii, minister of Industry and Infrastructure, Dan Dumitru, State Secretary of Romanian Office for Relation Management with Moldova, Darius Mesca, State Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Romania, were among the participants.
