Moldova has the instruments needed to withstand challenges related to Rusia’s hybrid warfare, and NATO will continue to provide support for our country to improve resilience in this area, says Tanya Hartman, Head of Policy East at NATO.

“When it comes to hybrid tactics, this is a kind of challenge that knows no boundaries or borders, but we have been working with Moldova, building its resilience to hybrid challenges already for a couple of years. Because we have experience of our own in dealing with similar challenges,” Hartman told an interview with Europa Liberă.

According to her, the European Union, NATO and other partners are committed to helping Moldova make progress on its path to EU membership, “a path to prosperity for the Moldovan people, for the next generation of Moldovans, and also a path to security”.

From 2025, Moldova is expected to take its partnership with NATO to a higher level, on par with countries such as Australia, South Korea, Japan and New Zealand. Tanya Hartman says the alliance will continue to help Moldova in those areas where the country itself is interested, with full respect for its constitutional neutrality.

“All of our cooperation is conducted in response to the request from the Moldovan authorities. We work only in those areas where the government has asked for our assistance”, the official stressed.

To NATO, says Harmtan, it is clear that the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine is very difficult, and that Russia has not given up on its maximalist objectives of conquering Ukraine and eroding its sovereignty and independence.

“Allies and NATO as an organization will continue to support Ukraine to ensure that it prevails in its sovereignty and territorial integrity, that it wins this war and that it ensures a lasting peace, so that Russia cannot attack Ukraine again, said the NATO official in the interview for Europa Liberă.
