The Republic of Moldova risks being internationally isolated owing to the policy pursued by the government, director of the National Intelligence College of Romania Iulian Fota said in the talk show “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

“The Republic of Moldova reached the point when it could be isolated internationally. I see disappointment in those from the West. The officials there wonder why things do not change after so many years of support and Moldova is not modernized and becomes poorer. I think it is due to the lack of lobe for the people, compassion for the mates as those who are in power care only about their wealth,” stated Fota.

According to him, the Republic of Moldova detached itself from the triangle that it formed together with Georgia and Ukraine, which advanced much more on the path of European integration, despite the fact that they were marked by war. “Georgia identified its path long ago and Ukraine followed it. Moldova detached itself from Georgia and Ukraine,” said Fota.

Iulian Fota also said that the Republic of Moldova will be unable to survive without financing from the West. “The Republic of Moldova is not a viable state and lives on donations made by us, Romanians, and by the EU. Russia does not have money to support the Republic of Moldova,” he stated.

Igor Munteanu, director of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Viitorul”, in the program said the EU could suspend the financing promised to the Republic of Moldova because the European Commission could yield to the pressure exerted by two of the largest groups of the European Parliament. “In 2015, the EU suspended the financial support for the Republic of Moldova owing to the theft committed in the banking system. The money wasn’t recovered and the beneficiaries weren’t identified. The Republic of Moldova didn’t carry out the tasks set by the Association Agreement with the EU. Chisinau presented a report, but our rulers and those from Brussels understand things in a different way,” he stated.
