As the internally set terms of reference show, almost all the objectives of the Moldova-EU Action Plan have been fulfilled, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Andrei Stratan told reporters.
While there are commitments in certain areas, like fight against corruption or the judicial reform, that have not been entirely fulfilled, the minister said that it is hard to fix an exact deadline or establish certain criteria for carrying out reforms in these areas as they need continuous improvement.
“Today, no one can say that Moldova or the EU member states have completely liquidated corruption from the internal activity. We must unify all efforts to fight this phenomenon that hinders the social and economic activity in Moldova”, the Foreign Minister said.
The Moldova-EU Action Plan was signed in 2005 for a term of three years. Premier Vasile Tarlev has early stated that the commitments under the Plan should be fulfilled by November 17, 2007.
