Moldova did not support Russia’s resolution on "combating glorification of Nazism"

The Third Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted the resolution on "combating the glorification of Nazism” proposed by Russia. The resolution was supported by 116 countries, with 54 votes against and 11 abstentions.

Among the countries that supported the resolution are Azerbaijan, Algeria, Armenia, Belarus, Bolivia, Brazil, China, Cuba, Serbia, Syria, and others.

Among those that voted against are Moldova, Canada, the USA, Ukraine, Japan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Australia, Austria, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, France, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Estonia.



The co-sponsors of the draft resolution were Algeria, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, China, North Korea, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Mali, Nicaragua, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Serbia, Syria, Sudan, Tajikistan, Togo, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Ethiopia, South Africa, and others.

The document, which contains 74 points, stresses the necessity of taking measures to prevent the revision of the results of World War II. The authors of the resolution also call for a ban on "any ceremonial celebrations" by the Nazi regime and its allies.
