The national football team of Moldova ended the qualifying competition of the 2018 FIFA World Cup with a defeat at home. Moldova was beaten by Austria 0-1, IPN reports.
In the 55th minute, Artur Ionita was sent off for the accumulated yellow cards, while in the 69th minute Louis Schaub scored the only goal of the match.
Moldova scored only two points, both in the encounters with Georgia. Group D was won by Serbia, which has qualified directly for the Russia final. Ireland ranked second and will compete in playoffs.
The Nations Cup is the next competition for Moldova. This starts next autumn.
