Moldova beat Andorra 2-0 in the second match of League D, Group 2, of the UEFA Nations League and authoritatively lead the group that also includes Malta. The game was played at the Zimbru Stadium in Chisinau, IPN reports.

The goals were scored by Artur Ioniță, in the 31st minute, and by Maxim Cojocaru, in the 95th minute.

Sergei Kleshchenko, head coach of the Moldovan national football team, at the post-match press conference said that the game was emotional rather than enjoyable and the players did not do their best. The important thing is that the team gained three points and took a step towards qualification.

President Maia Sandu appreciated the victory of the Moldovan team in the match against Andorra. “Our stadium is once again full of people who came to support Moldova! […] Congratulations, National Team! Congratulations to all the footballers, coaches and supporters of the national squad. Congratulations, Moldova!,” the head of state posted on Facebook.

According to the Moldovan Football Federation, the ‘tricolors’ have a maximum score after two games and on October 13 will play away the decisive match against Malta, which can bring them qualification for League C.
