Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi, referring to the COVID-19 vaccine that Moldova is to receive, said this could be the vaccine Pfizer or Moderna. “We are waiting for the first consignment of vaccines. As the Ministry of Health informed, we will be able to start the national vaccination program in the first half of February. We are hopeful it will be so,” the official told the journalists, being quoted by IPN.
According to Aureliu Ciocoi, it does not matter which of the producers deliver the vaccines. “It is important to have the guarantee that the technical conditions are met, if it is Pfizer, which is kept at a temperature of -70°C. I assure you we have sufficient storage capacities. So, the cold storage capacities enable us to store 200,000-250,000 vaccines,” stated Aureliu Ciocoi. He voiced hope that Moldova could also import other vaccines, such as Moderna, which does not need to be stored at such low temperatures.
Aureliu Ciocoi said Moldova will import only vaccines authorized by the WHO and the European Medicines Agency.
