The most serious problem of Moldova is that it becomes an isolated country, because of the policies promoted by the present government party, Dumitru Braghis, head of Social Democracy Party (SDP) stated Tuesday December 19.
As he states, at present Moldova is a country that nobody wants to cooperate with. Moreover, the recent statements made by the European Commission, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development speak about the fact that Moldova is no longer taken as serious by anyone in Europe, mainly in the context of European integration, because the Moldova-EU Action Plan, according to certain estimations, is an ineffectual document as well.
SDP said that this year Moldova placed almost the first in the world as regards the trade balance deficit and volume of remittances from abroad against GDP. Moldova is the country that will report the highest rate of inflation among the CIS member states, the lowest increase in GDP in 2006 and that have the lowest wages in CIS space, Braghis claims.
As he states, during the six-year-period of communist government Moldova has become “the poorest” from “one of the poorest countries in Europe”, while the Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper meant only words. Due to the policies promoted by the government, people continue leaving abroad for a job, Braghis added.
At the same time, according to SDP leader, the police regime and dictatorship continues to be consolidated in the state. To support these statements, Braghis reminded about the 36% increase in allocations from the 2007 State Budget, intended for the police, while the increase planned for education and health is of only 14-16 percent.
In conclusion, SDP asserts that the economic state of Moldova in 2006 was influenced by the “stupid foreign policy” of the current government.
