The national football team of Moldova won the first victory in 2014. The ‘tricolors’ defeated Andorra away 3-0, IPN reports.

Moldova captain Alexandru Epureanu scored two times, while naturalized Brazilian Henrique Luvannor scored the third goal. Epureanu already scored six goals for the national team, while Luvannor scored two goals in four matches.

“After drawing in Chisinau, we were criticized. We wanted very much to score a victory. The footballers of Andorra are amateurs, while our players had been in training for two months and this counted,” Moldova managers Ion Caras said in a news conference after the match.

“I’m glad that we scored the first victory. It wasn’t easy with Andorra, whose defense formed barricades. The field was rather soft,” said Henrique Luvannor.

The match against Andorra was a preparatory stage before the 2016 European Championship preliminaries, which start in September.
