The national football team of Moldova lost by 1-2 to Russia’s squad, which took thus revenge for the 1-1 tie scored last year in Moscow. It was the first match with Stefan Stoica as the coach of Moldova, who recently replaced Alexandru Curteian, IPN reports.

After a first half without goals, the Russian players inclined the balance in their favor in the 58th and 78th minutes through Ignashevich and Dziuba. Halfback Cebotaru reduced the difference in the 85th minute, but the ‘tricolors’ didn’t have the power to secure a draw. “I cannot be satisfied with a defeat, but Russia deserved to win. However, I’m satisfied with the devotion of my players,” Moldova coach Stefan Stoica told a news conference.

Moldova remains only with two points and cannot already avoid the last place in the group. On October 12, Moldova meets Sweden away, in the last match of the Euro 2016 qualifiers. Gatcan and Golovatenco, who were suspended for the game against Russia, will return. Instead, Epureanu, Ionita, Andronic and Racu cannot yet play because of injury.
