Moldovan authorities are in talks with ten large foreign companies willing to invest in Moldova's economy, Deputy Economy & Trade Minister Iurie Munteanu revealed. According to him, in addition to the favorable conditions for investment, Moldova has a great advantage – it enjoys full free trade regimes with the CIS states as well as EU and East-European countries.
“A large company, which created over 1,800 jobs in the city of Balti, is the Moldo-British venture “Dava”. There, Moldovan software engineers are writing computer programs which are later exported to Europe. The security software developed by the Moldovans for the chips of payment cards is used by most of the British banks”, Munteanu was quoted by Agroinform as saying.
There are several hundreds of software development firms in Moldova. Over 90 percent of their production goes to the European Union.
