A conference to conclude the practical work/implementation of the international project “Moldova and Ukraine: path to the European Union” is held on June 10-13 in Cricova town, a suburb of Chisinau, IPN reports.

The conference is attended by experts from the field of local public administration, as well as local elected officials from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania. During the four days, points of possible cooperation of the communities in the format of countries bordering the Danube are being identified, experience and good practices are being exchanged. The participants, mayors and officials from local administration bodies, aim to sign cooperation agreements between the settlements they represent so as to increase economic well-being, cultural development and good neighborliness.

On the first day of the conference, an agreement on the development of cultural initiatives and economic relations was signed between the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova and the Ukrainian public organization “Dniester Euroregion”, which takes into account the opportunities, problems and challenges that the communities of the two countries are currently facing.

“It is obvious that today, just like 30 years ago, the destinies of Ukraine, Moldova and Romania are closely intertwined. For this reason, Kyiv, Chisinau and Bucharest have every reason to intensify cooperation in the name of the security of the peoples of our countries, economic prosperity, further cultural development and peace,” said Dr. Tetiana Pashinina, Director of the Regional Center for Continuing Education in Vinnitsa, who is also the initiator of the project.

The idea of the project took root in the context of the European Parliament’s resolution of June 23, 2022, which marked the beginning of Moldova’s and Ukraine’s paths towards European Union membership and is supported by the German Hanns Seidel Foundation.
