The Republic of Moldova and Romania have signed a protocol of cooperation for constituting a joint working group of experts in the tourism sector. The document was signed between the Ministry of Culture of Moldova and the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania on the first day of the international specialized exhibition “Tourism & Travel Expo” that is held at Moldexpo until April 9, IPN reports.

The objective of the working group will be to promote closer cooperation between official tourism organizations of the two counties so as to favor relations in the tourism sector and to increase tourist exchanges.

“It is noteworthy that in 2022 the Republic of Moldova saw rises in the main statistical indicators regarding domestic tourism – up 56% on a year before. This happened at a time when our country had to welcome refugees from the neighboring country, to lodge them in homes and tourist pensions, to show that we are a small country, but with a big heart. This way, we became known all over the world and the people want to visit us,” said Minister of Culture Sergiu Prodan, noting the Ministry of Culture’s priority is to promote Moldova as an authentic tourist destination on the target markets, especially by developing partnerships in the regional context.

“Our mission, of the ministers who manage the tourism sector on both sides of the Prut, is to provide solutions to remove the legislative barriers so that we could achieve a common goal: to promote Romania – the Republic of Moldova as a common tourist destination,” said the Minister of Entrepreneurship and Tourism of Romania Constantin-Daniel Cadariu.

The 26th Tourism & Travel Expo 2023 was organized by the Ministry of Culture in partnership with the Investment Agency and the Organization for Entrepreneurship Development.
