The Republic of Moldova and Romania act together to improve the justice system. They discuss the updating of the legislation that regulates the work of notaries and bailiffs and its adjustment to the digitization necessities imposed by the European requirements, it was noted after the fourth meeting of the members of the Moldovan Parliament’s legal commission for appointments and immunities and the commission for legal matters, appointments, discipline, immunities and validations of the Senate of Romania’s Parliament. The meeting took place in Chisinau on Thursday, April 6, IPN reports.

Romanian MP Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș, commission chairman, said that as a result of discussions held with the Moldovan counterparts, it became evident that the dialogue should be extended to cover other professions related to justice, including mediators, translators, and interpreters. ”Any kind of evolution in the relations between the two commissions is a positive, effective and pragmatic step towards improving our systems, both the judicial one and the legislative one,” stated the Romanian parliamentarian.

Besides the discussed technical legislation aspects, they also discuss practical elements. Cristian-Augustin Niculescu-Țâgârlaș said that after the two commissions had discussions in Iasi, it was decided to open a joint border control point, which is a very important issue. The law that allows opening this point was adopted in the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies of Romania on Monday. This checkpoint will enable to improve the quality of passenger and freight transportation between the two states.

Olesea Stamate, the head of the Moldovan legal commission, said that the first part of the meeting centered on the recent amendments made to the legislation of Romania and Moldova, as regards the justice sector reform. Meetings of the working groups with lawyers, notaries, bailiffs and legal experts of Romania and Moldova will be now held so as to adopt practical solutions for improving the functioning framework for these professions in both of the countries.

The delegation of the commission for legal matters, appointments, discipline, immunities and validations of the Senate of Romania’s Parliament will be in Moldova until April 8.
