The director of the public TV channel Moldova 1 could not be elected as none of the candidates polled the necessary number of votes, Info-Prim Neo reports.
One of the 12 candidates withdrew from the race not long before the voting. Nicu Scorpan accused the Supervisory Board of creating a politicized atmosphere by accepting candidates who do not meet the conditions and do not have experience of working in the public broadcasting sector.
In the first round of voting, Vitalie Cojocari, 28, who works as a reporter at ProTV Bucuresti, gained two votes, while the vice director of Moldova 1 Efim Josanu – three votes. In the second round, the members of the Supervisory Board did not change their preference. “I expected a positive result, but it wasn’t like that,” the Council’s chairman Eugeniu Rybka said after the contest.
