The administration of the public TV channel Moldova 1 expresses its disagreement with what it considers an attempt by the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) to discredit and spoil the image of the public TV channel by aggressive acts and interference in the editorial policy. In a public call addressed including to embassies working in Chisinau, the channel’s administration says Moldova 1 has been the target of unfounded attacks since the PPPDA launched the protests, IPN reports.
The call says the attempts by the TV channel’s director to have a dialogue with the leaders of the PPPDA and PAS during the protest mounted in front of the institution on September 17 failed because the protest leaders didn’t allow her to state her viewpoint. “The protesters verbally attacked both the channel’s administration and the filming crews that did their jobs. On September 17, Moldova 1 produced a special edition about the protests and protesters’ demands. The public TV channel ensures and will ensure objective informing, based on the pluralism of opinion,” reads the call.
In a news conference at IPN on September 18, the PAS and PPPDA requested the administration of the public company “Teleradio-Moldova” to offer the opposition an hour of airtime a week on Moldova 1. If a response is not provided by September 22 or the response is negative, the two parties intend to resume the protests on September 24.
