The signal of the public TV channel Moldova 1 is being taken over by at least two media service distributors from the Transnistrian region, IPN reports, referring to a press release issued by Teleradio-Moldova.

The public broadcaster says it remains committed to expanding its coverage throughout Moldova and will examine the possibility of opening a correspondent point on the left bank of the Dniester "to ensure a balanced and objective coverage of the realities in the region".

Oleg Serebrian, deputy prime minister for reintegration, confirmed that Moldova 1 had reappeared in the country's eastern districts after a 33-year absence and hoped to resume "normal" talks with Tiraspol.

Government spokesman Daniel Voda said that the broadcasting of the public TV channel Moldova 1 on the left bank of the Dniester is important to diversify the media sources available to the region's inhabitants, so that all citizens have access to objective information of public interest.
