The Moldo-French relationships have gained momentum the last years and go on developing, said Dumitru Prijmireanu, the chairman of the parliamentary group of friendship with France, on Saturday. The parliamentarian has stressed that the frequent exchanges of delegations have given impetus to bilateral dialogs, as the two countries also cooperate well within international organizations, especially in the Council of Europe, Info-Prim Neo has learnt from a communique issued by the Moldovan Parliament. At a meeting with a delegation of French parliamentarians, the Moldovan MPs asked for France's support to start the official talks on concluding a new cooperation agreement between Moldova and the EU. They have said because of the new international situation, emerged after the events in the Caucasus, it is necessary to intensify the efforts aimed at settling the Transnistrian conflict, which is different from the Georgian conflicts. Josette Durrieu, the chairwoman of the French parliamentary group for friendship with Moldova, has described the political situation in Moldova as stable, specifying the coming parliamentary elections will be a final test on the way of asserting Moldova's democracy. According to the French senator, the Transnistrian issue is simpler to settle than the conflicts in South Ossetia and Abkhazia. However, the conflicts from both Moldovan and Georgia should be settled in the context of preserving the territorial integrity of those states. 38 MPs from all the factions are part of the group of friendship with France. A delegation of French senators is visiting Moldova from September 6 to 8.
