A minority government could resist for several months or even for a year, said the co-president of the Bloc ACUM Maia Sandu, who earlier proposed such a government formula. According to the politician, a minority government faces big risks, but there are no better alternatives and the foreign partners also realize this, IPN reports.

The leader of the Party “Action and Solidarity” said Moldova’s foreign partners understand that the situation is difficult, but they also understand that if there is a minority government committed to promoting the European values, the chances of moving on in the absence of majority support in Parliament would be greater at a time when there is an oligarchic regime that says that everything is ok and it takes actions, but actually does nothing.

“We said that we simultaneously need to deal with the cleaning of the system, to keep things within normality and to return to the budgetary situation. The budget for this year includes foreign sources for financing the deficient, but these cannot be used now. If nothing happens swiftly, these sources could not be used as the program with the International Monetary Fund expires in autumn,” Maia Sandu stated in the talk show “Black Box” on TV8 channel.

According to her, the economic situation is difficult, but if the same people, who are not interested in and capable of avoiding a crisis and of improving the economic situation in several years, remain, the situation will worsen. The regime will anyway fall, but things will be very serious.

The politician noted the de-oligarchization process proposed by ACUM is a process of transition that scares. Even so, the state institutions should be freed from captivity. “The things we suggest would mean a major earthquake for the oligarchic system and we could then stop here if there is no will to go on. We will go towards snap elections and will have at least freer and fairer elections under another electoral system,” she stated.

Maia Sandu also said that if snap elections take place, these should be held according to the proportional representation system and she voiced hope the Socialists will have courage to vote the modification of the system as the new system for which the PSRM also voted brought advantages only to the Democratic Party.

As to the formula in which the Party “Action and Solidarity” and the Party “Dignity and Truth” Platform would run in the next elections, the co-president of the Bloc ACUM said this aspect will be analyzed as they do not have a concrete formula. The team will be mainly the same, but changes would be anyway made.
