A new research of the export promotion by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce shows that the services area is the future of the Republic of Moldova, and reconsideration of the merchandise / services ratio is required, especially taking into consideration that Moldova doesn’t possess considerable material resources.
„We must switch from a classic economy, based on traditional industries that we keep trying to rebuild, to an economy based in intellect”, ministry Valeriu Lazar recently declared.
According to him, Moldova has an advantage because of the actual human resources in the service area, and human resources must be trained for the future. The Investment attraction and export promotion strategy recently launched in Chisinau plans that in the next 20 years research, development, innovations and technological transfer become crucial for Moldova.
„If we want to compensate the lack or insufficiency of other types of advantages, we have to be smarter, and we have to offer a more liberal and friendly business medium than in other countries of the region”, the minister mentioned. According to him, the liberal approach is in providing equal chances for all types of industrial products and services, as well limiting administrative interventions in the development of certain sectors.
Regarding the subject of Moldovan products that can be exported, the minister appreciated as erroneous the affirmation that the Republic of Moldova “should provide the world with billion bottles of wine”. According to him, the experts consider that a small country cannot provide an enormous offer, but can provide reasonable amounts of quality products. Considering this, the minister believes that the added value of the products must be obtained from quality and by applying intellectual resources.
