Military plane crashes near Kharkiv

A Ukrainian Air Force transport aircraft crashed near the eastern city of Chuguev late Friday, killing 25 people and seriously injuring another two. There were cadets of the Kharkiv Air Force University involved in a training flight on the plane, IPN reports.

According to the local press, the AN-26 plane crashed near the city of Chuguev in the Kharkov region of Ukraine during landing at about 9pm on September 25. The Ukrainian Air Force Command said there were seven officers and 20 cadets onboard. The Ukrainian authorities set up a state commission for determining the circumstances of the crash.

The Minister of Defense of Moldova Alexandru Pînzari offered his condolences to the military mates and families of those who lost relatives in the plane crash. “In these difficult moments, we are near the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is a huge loss for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the whole Ukrainian nation...God rest your souls, comrades!”, Alexandru Pînzari posted on a social networking site.
